How to: make duct tape glasses

I was challenged to make a duct tape glasses frame today, so I did. Here's the instructions on how to do it.

There are different ways in which you can make glasses out of duct tape. I will teach you two of these.

Making them purely out of duct tape(the harder way):
STEP ONE: Make a sheet of duct tape fabric about the legnth of your face, and as wide as you would like the frame to be.

STEP TWO: Once you have the duct tape fabric, sketch the shape you'd like the frame to be. You can trace a pair of sunglasses, or just make an original pair.

STEP THREE: Cut out the shape. It will be easier to cut them out with scissors once you get a small hole to start off with. It is slightly hard to cut duct tape fabric with an exacto knife.

STEP FOUR: Cut out the holes in the middle, so you can see.

STEP FIVE: The frame you currently have will be very thin and flimsy, so when you attempt to wear it, it will wrap around your face (like a Robin mask). You're going to need to wrap more duct tape around the frame to make it thick enough to stay straight.

STEP SIX: Make the ear pieces by either using the remaining duct tape fabric, or making more. Sketch and cut it out. You'll need to thicken these as well.

STEP SEVEN: Tape the ear pieces to the frame.

close to finished product(needs to be thickened more and a little editing!):

Glasses out of Cardboard(the easier way):
STEP ONE: Take some thick cardboard and sketch the frame and ear pieces out of it.

STEP TWO: Cut the frame and pieces out (including the frame's eye holes).

STEP THREE: Wrap duct tape around the frame and ear pieces.

STEP FOUR: Tape the ear pieces to thee frame.

Dissection.

As some of us may know, October is cut out dissection month (http://www.peta2.com/cutoutdissection/cutoutdissection.asp)

I'm not a vegetarian, nor am I a super crazy animal rights activist, but the thought of cutting into the carcass of a dead animal bothers me. Cutting into a frog is wrong enough, but in some schools the students dissect the fetuses of pigs, and even worse: cats. Seeing a dead, furry cat laying on a cold labratory table severely bothers me. This is most likely because I personally own two cats, and love them dearly.

If you agree with this, you don't /have/ to dissect in class. You can write a letter to the teacher/professor asking them for an alternative (there are online "dissection" labs that resemble a real lab, cruelty free!) If they attempt to force you into dissecting, you can take many steps (for more information, view the above website.) And, if you're really passionate about it you can attempt to stop dissection at your school!

Again, I am not a vegetarian, but I do care about the mistreatment of cute animals makes me a little sad. I apologize for the shortness and uninterestingness(is that even a word?) of this post. But It's my first real post. I'll try to make the ones after this more interesting, so keep reading!

awwh, look at him.

about me.

My name is Kristie Rae. I've made this blog for many reasons: to review products and films; to share my artwork; and to express my concerns about things. I will try to make it as interesting as possible, but I am fairly new at this. I cannot promise anything will be super exciting, or that this will get any views. But I can try.
